Kassy is a Registered Psychotherapist with more than ten years of working with youth and adults in many different settings, including group homes, social housing, employment services, schools, and mental health clinics. She holds a Community and Justice Service Worker Diploma from Loyalist College, a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice with a specialization in Youth, Crime and Violence and Forensic Psychology from Ontario Tech University and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with distinction from Yorkville University.
Using previous work experiences teaching swim lessons to first aid- in schools and trauma-informed programs, Kassy takes a client-centred integrative approach to ensure the best fit for each client. Some modalities and elements used include CBT, IFS, Solution Focused, and DBT.
Kassy believes everyone has experienced trauma at some point, so creating a space where clients feel safe and can be vulnerable to exploring their experiences is very important to the process. Establishing this safety and stabilization in the present allows clients to do the deeper trauma processing.
“Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they’re never a weakness”- Brene Brown.
